The Attractive Power - Desire Force - Page 4

Nothing but that love will enable you to have the strength to complete the task. The more Desire you have for a thing, the more you Love it; and the more you Love it, the greater will be the attractive force exerted toward its attainment - both within yourself, and outside of you.

So love but one thing at a time - be a mental monogamist.

But if you really Desire a thing in earnest, you will pay the price without question; for the Desire will dwarf the importance of the other things.

You say that you want a thing very much, and are doing everything possible toward its attainment? Yes! You are serious about Desire. You want the thing more than anything else - as much as you want life. Look at the almost miraculous things accomplished by persons of great desire. Your desire is as strong as that. You work for the desired thing as if your life depended upon it. Wonderful! You know what Desire is. I tell you if a person wants a thing with great desire, as much as a strongly vital person wants life, then that person will be able to accomplish almost anything. The key to attainment is Desire, Confidence, and Will. This key will open many doors.

Love frees Desire - it breathes life into it. You must do what you love. There have been times in my life when Love would get hold of me and take a good, firm grip on my vitals, and I would have hope; interest; ambition; desire. I am grateful, I have always managed to hold onto the grip of the angel and face my situation  like an adult; and lo! Things would seem to be straightened out for me somehow. Either the situation would melt away or I would be given means to overcome, or get around, or under or over it. It is strange how this works. No matter how great is the situation, when we finally face it with courage and confidence in ourselves, we seem to pull through somehow, and then we begin to know what we were in love with. This is reality, it is the working of a mighty law, which we have begun to understand, and which we may prove at any time.

People often ask: "it's all very well for you New Thought people to say 'Be serene,' but what's a person to do when they think of non serene things ahead of them, which might make them non serene?

Serenity is positive and life producing. Desire and Ambition are positive and life producing. A person may serene themselves to life and something will be accomplished, and let that person transmute their non serenity and discontent into Desire and Interest, coupled with a belief that they are able to make the change - the "I Can and I Will" idea - then something happens.

Yes, Love and Serenity must come before we can do much. One must proceed to invite these positive friends, along with Confidence and Hope. Transmute non serenity into keen Desire. Then you will find that Interest is awakened, and you will begin to think things of interest to you. Thoughts will come to you from the great reserve stock in your mind and you will start to manifest them in action. Moreover you will be placing yourself in harmony with similar thoughts of others, and will draw to you aid and assistance from the great volume of thought waves with which the world is filled. One draws to themselves thought waves corresponding in character with the nature of the prevailing thoughts in their own mind - their mental attitude. Then again they begin to set into motion the great Law of Attraction, whereby they draw to them others likely to help them, and is, in turn, attracted to others who can aid them. This Law of Attraction is real, a physical fact, a great live working principle of Nature, as anyone may learn by experimenting and observing.

To succeed in anything you must want it very much - Desire must be in evidence in order to attract. The person of strong desire attracts a lot to themselves. The stronger the Desire the greater the force set into motion. You must want a thing hard enough before you can get it. You must want it more than you do the things around you, and you must be prepared to pay the price for it. The price is focusing only on one desire. It all depends on what you want. As a rule, the greater the thing desired, the greater the price to be paid for it. Nature believes in adequate compensation.

SERENITY is the child of Love - if you give life to Love, Serenity will live in abundance. This advice is very new, and it is worthy of repetition, for it is a lesson of which we are greatly in need. Some people think that if we give life to Love and Serenity we will be able to accomplish anything. I have read editorials in the great journals in which the writers held that with Serenity one can accomplish any of the great tasks of life, because Serenity is necessary to get things done. This is the truth, no matter who utters it. Serenity always helps one to accomplish anything; it clears the way for accomplishment and attainment.

The motive underlying action and "doing things" is Desire and Interest. If one earnestly desires a thing, they naturally become very much interested in its accomplishment, and are quick to seize upon anything likely to help them to gain the thing they want. More than that, their mind starts up a work on the subconscious plane that brings into the field of consciousness many ideas of value and importance. Desire and Interest are the causes that result in success. It is true that if one's surroundings and environments become tolerable, they are relaxed in calmness to some easiness that will result in bringing  on the desirable conditions and in the acquiring of those more in harmony with their desire. This is realized Desire - the person desires something different from what they have; and when their desire becomes strong enough their entire interest is given to the task, they make a mighty effort, and the change is accomplished. It was Desire that caused the effort. Desire motivates action, "Joy is me," gets up the nerve, to accomplish something. Desire acts. It grows weaker as the persons conditions become tolerable, and finally when they feel the peace so strongly that they can sit and relax, they say, "I will sit - l will allow," and lo! Then Serenity walks in. The person keeps on "allowing" in the best way and their Interest and Attention being given to the task of allowing, they begin to make things stay still. Serenity always accomplishes something.

The Secret of the Will - Page 2

Those who have developed their mind so that it will allow the Will Power to manifest through it, have opened up wonderful possibilities for themselves. Not only have they found a great power at their command, but they are able to bring into play, and use, faculties, talents and abilities of whose existence they have not dreamed. This secret of the Will is the magic key which opens all doors.

The late Donald G. Mitchell once wrote: "Resolve is what makes a person manifest; strong resolve, and crude determination; accurate purpose - and that strong and indefatigable will which brings in ease and safety, as a child treads down the heaving frost-lands of winter; which kindles their eye and brain with a proud pulse-beat toward the unattainable. Will makes people giants."

Many of us feel that if we would but exert our Will, we might accomplish wonders. Some do seem to want to take the trouble - at any rate; they do get to the actual willing point. They start right away, and talk specifically of "now," and that now has come.

We instinctively feel the power of the Will, and we have enough energy to exercise it, and steer towards our goals, perhaps some friendly circumstance arises, some helpful person appears in our path, or some kindly desire stirs us into action, in either of which cases we are compelled to assert our Will and thus begin to accomplish something.

The good thing with some of us is that we do want to do the thing enough to make us exert our Will Power. We do want to hard enough. We are mentally active and of strong Desire. If you do not like the word Desire substitute for it the word "Aspiration." (Some people call the lower impulses Desires, and the higher, Aspirations - it's all a matter of words, take your choice.) That is the good thing.
