And the person in search of success must make of that desired thing their ruling passion - they must keep their mind on the main chance. Success requires focus. It demands a persons whole affection, and if they give it their all, it will soon embrace them. If a person allows their strong interest in the main chance to be focused, they will be the winner. Mental Force operates best when it is concentrated. You must give to the desired thing your best and most earnest thought. Just as the person who is thoroughly in love will think out plans and schemes whereby they may please the fair one, so will the person who is in love with their work or business give it their best thought, and the result will be that a hundred and one plans will come into their field of consciousness, many of which are very important. The mind works on the subconscious plane, remember, and almost always along the lines of the ruling passion or desire. It will fix up things, and patch together plans and schemes, and when you need them the most it will pop them into your consciousness, and you will feel like hurrahing, just as if you had received some valuable aid from outside.
If you focus your thought-force, the subconscious mind will know just how to please you, and the result is that you are apt to be helped from this source of aid and assistance. Beside this, you will see the powerful result of concentrated thought in the conscious working out of the details of your plans. And then again the person whose mind is full of a single interest will exert the attracting power that is manifested by the person of the one ruling passion, and draws to them persons, things, and results that will aid in the working out of their plans, and will also place themselves in the current of attraction whereby they are brought into contact with those who will be glad to help them because of harmonious interests.

Thought Waves and their Process of Reproduction - Page 3
If we have been encouraged, we may rest assured that we have jumped into a positive key, and have been affected not only by our own thoughts but have also received the added uplifting thoughts of similar character which are constantly being sent out from the minds of other fortunates who have learned the law of attraction in the thought world. And if we occasionally rise to heights of enthusiasm and energy, how quickly we feel the inflow of the courageous, daring, energetic, positive thoughts being sent out by the live people of the world. We recognize this without much trouble when we come in personal contact with people and feel their vibrations. But the same law operates when we are not in their presence, although less strongly.
The mind has many degrees of pitch, ranging from the highest positive note to the no positive note, with many notes in between, varying in pitch according to the amount of positivity.
When your mind is operating along positive lines you feel strong, buoyant, bright, cheerful, happy, confident and courageous, and are enabled to do your work well, to carry out your intentions, and progress on your roads to Success. You send out strong positive thought, which affects others and causes them to co-operate with you or to follow your lead, according to their own mental keynote.
In some persons the positive element seems to predominate. There are, of course, widely varying degrees of positiveness, and B may be less positive to A, while more positive than C. When two people first meet there is generally a silent attraction in which their respective minds test each others power of attraction, and fix their relative position toward each other.

The person who believes thoroughly in themselves and maintains a positive strong mental attitude of Confidence and Determination is likely to be affected by the beneficial and positive thoughts of Encouragement and Success emanating from the minds of other persons in whom these last qualities predominate. At the same time these positive thoughts, if they reach one whose mental attitude is pitched on a high key, heighten their positive state and add fuel to the fire which is feeding their strength, or, if you prefer this figure, serve to further fan the fire of their energy and activity.
We attract to us the thoughts of others of the same order of thought. The person who thinks success will be apt to get into tune with the minds of others thinking likewise, and they will help the person, and the person them. The person who allows their mind to dwell constantly upon thoughts of success brings themselves into close touch with the minds of other "success" people, and each will tend to push the other up still more. The person who thinks that all is good is apt to see much good, and will be brought into contact with others who will seem to prove their theory. And the person who looks for good in everything and everybody will be likely to attract to themselves the things and people corresponding to their thought. We generally see that for which we look.
You will be able to carry this idea more clearly if you will think of the Marconi wireless instruments, which receive the vibrations only from the sending instrument which has been attuned to the same key, while other telegrams are passing through the air in near vicinity without affecting the instrument. The same law applies to the operations of thought. We receive only that which corresponds to our mental attunement.
